Nosotros take each taken our own twist on this theme- as is ever the fun part! Be certain and check out at the bottom of this post to go to Ashlee and Liz's projects- yous won't be disappointed!
As for me and my project, well…. y'all know I beloved a proficient DIY!
Is your dream decor item out of budget? Then why not DIY!

Accurate Talavera Pottery
Authentic Talavera Painted Pots or pottery is traditionally hand-made and painted in Mexico and Kingdom of spain. This blazon of pottery is full of color and blueprint. Which I honey! Only for the real matter- it tin get pretty pricey.
I practice have a small drove of the real deal that I was able to observe at Home Appurtenances and TJ Maxx. These two planters were each just under $fifteen- which I think is even so kind of a lot for a planter. The pocket-sized pot and mug were just under $10. I will continue to purchase more as I can fit information technology into my budget.
Just until then- what'southward a thrifty/ diy girl to do?
How could I get pricey pottery on a thrift shop budget?

Then I had this thought. It ever starts like that…
When we outset moved into our cute piddling rental house I wanted bright and colorful painted planters for the patio. Merely I also needed to keep things in the budget then I decided to try and paint my own Mexican Painted Pottery.
As I was in the garage ane twenty-four hour period- I saw these former foam molded pots that I had a summertime or ii before- painted Navy Blue. And I thought- "well, that has a pattern. Near of the hard work is done! Maybe I could pigment these into the style of the Talavera Mexican pottery I want."
Using the Bluish as the base color, I then used craft paints to color in all of the other details. Then when I was completely finished I went dorsum in and using a Sharpie marker outlined all of those details. This gave the colors and design more depth. Information technology was just the look I was going for! Love it!
You can encounter one of my very outset blog posts from 2014 where I wrote about the project here- DIY Painted Pottery I merely reread information technology- it's non likewise bad!
Pot Number ii- Imperial Heaven

Imperial and Sky Bluish are not Traditional Talavera colors
This is the second pot that I painted that summer in 2014. It was function of a set I had bought at a garage sale. It was former and dirty, so I painted the pot Regal. While Imperial is not a traditional color for Talavera Mexican pots- it is a favorite colour of mine. I thought that it made a nice base colour for this DIY Talavera combination that I came up with my other craft paints. Royal, Sky Blue, Lime Green, Bright Yellow, and Hot Pink. Even though it's non a traditional color combination- I still think information technology works.
And More Pots Followed

My offset footstep past stride web log post
The summer of 2015 I painted another plastic pot I had found at another garage sale. This time I showed all of the steps I took to transform a obviously pot into this brilliant and colorful Talavera Painted Pot. Using just craft paint and a Sharpie! It is still an all fourth dimension favorite of mine. The pattern is merely perfect for this type of crafted pottery style.
Check out the steps I took in this post- DIY Mexican Painted Pottery
A Fun and Simple Craft Project

Every summer has brought more pots abode to paint!
Each new spring and summer garage sale season since has brought more plastic pots home to be up-cycled into DIY Talavera Painted Pottery.
Every time I first by painting the pot one strong base color and and so going into coloring the details with craft paint. It's a fun projection that actually takes no skill- trust me! The piece of work has been done for you with the molded details.

Make it even easier on yourself! Take hold of some Sharpie Paint Pens for those details!
This Bluish, White and Yellow pot that I painted last summertime- I used Sharpie Paint Pens for all of the details. It made this unproblematic project even easier! Believe me- you too tin paint your own DIY Talavera Painted Pot or Pottery.
This Summer's New Addition to the Crew

This is the Baby Brother to Pot #ane
This summer's DIY Talavera Painted pot is the same fashion as the very first pot that I painted in 2014. Information technology is just a smaller size. I decided for this smaller blood brother pot I would not copy the color combination exactly- just keep information technology similar. A Blue base, with Yellow and Carmine and Green details. This time I took a White Sharpie Pigment Pen and gave this pot even more than details with hand drawn dots and lines. I really similar the added particular that it gives.

What do you recollect?
Pretty skillful fakes if you ask me! Information technology's astonishing to me how merely some paint and time can transform a simple plastic pot and make it look expensive.
Here'south to the next DIY Talavera Mexican Painted Pot projection:

But a few days agone I found notwithstanding another foam pot needing some honey and pigment. It will be the next in line to become the DIY Talavera Painted Pottery treatment
